Traffic4u and corporate social responsibility

Traffic4u thinks it’s important to improve the development and well-being of children in need of extra support. We play our part with the Kids4u initiative. With Kids4u our organisation annually supports a small-scale project that uses the Internet to improve the development and well-being of these children. We periodically collaborate with various parties to support existing projects or set up new ones.

Kids4u 2009: 'Internet aan bed' - Beatrix Children’s Hospital

In 2009 we chose to support the project ‘Internet aan Bed’ for the Beatrix Children’s Hospital, just as we did in 2005. We asked all of the interested children to make a drawing and explain why the Internet is so important to them. From the children’s stories it became evident that having Internet access in bed was important because it allowed the children to keep in touch with family, friends and classmates. For some children this would be impossible without the Internet. A fantastic birthday calendar was put together from these drawings and texts.

In addition to the monetary donation Traffic4u made to the foundation, the calendars were made available for 20 Euros each via the Beatrix Children’s Hospital website (Dutch only). The earnings from the sale of the calendars will go to the foundation to ensure that instead of the current 40 beds that are equipped with a computer and Internet, all 120 children will be able to make use of a permanent Internet connection by their bed.

The Kids4u projects ‘Internet aan bed’ from 2005 and ‘Internet zonder drempels’ from 2007 were extremely successful. In 2008 Kids4u supported the NOVO child day centres ‘Berjarijke’ in Appingedam and ‘De Kleine Beer’ in Groningen. Our goal was to support NOVO through a donation in the area of ‘child and computer’ and to generate a modest amount of publicity so that the goals of NOVO and the Friends of NOVO foundation can gain attention and be achieved.
